The interstices of the
cable core are filled with a special compound,
petroleum jelly. They
are used in the local networks, as subscriber
cables in the
distribution networks. No water can penetrate into the
core in case of cable
damage. They can be directly buried or installed
ducts.

Design;
The basic sub-unit has ten pairs and contains five star-quads
which are all stranded with
same twist. The main
units made from basic units
either have 50 and 100 pairs.
Cable core consisting of
sub-units or main-units
interstices filled with
petroleum jelly and coated
water-emitting foil and
polyester.
Screen;
Where an aluminium foil some 0.2 mm. thick is covered
on both sides with a layer of
polyethylene.
Outer sheath;
Black polyethylene. (BS 6234-03C)
